Academic Advising: Information for 教师

We encourage Pitzer students to work with their faculty advisers early in their academic career to determine how a semester of study abroad will best fit into their overall educational plan. With early planning 和 advising, students in any major can have the opportunity to study abroad.
Advising 和 Application Process
For Pitzer students, the first steps in the study abroad process are attending an Information Session 和 meeting with a study abroad adviser, discussing their study abroad plans with their academic adviser. 审查 你的留学之旅 和 申请Pitzer学生 for more information about the advising 和 application processes.

An 顾问批准表格 is part of the Pitzer College 出国留学 Application. Your advisees should research programs 和 available courses 和 have a conversation with you about how study abroad fits into their degree planning 和 progress. By providing your signature, you are signaling that you 和 your advisee have discussed their study abroad plans, that they are in good academic st和ing 和 making satisfactory progress towards completion of their degree, that their study abroad plans make sense academi呼叫y, considering their overall plan of study.
Beginning with the Summer 2025 term, 顾问批准表格s will be completed via the 出国留学 Application Portal. You will receive an email with an 顾问批准表格 Request 和 your student’s name in the subject line. 的 email will include login instructions 和 the option of creating a user account. We suggest creating a user account to view all such requests in one location. Hint: 教师 use the ‘General non-Pitzer login’ to access their account.
Adviser Endorsement for 未经批准的程序
申请 未经批准程序 may include an optional letter from their academic adviser explaining why they believe the 未经批准程序 best meets an essential educational need for their advisee. 的se letters are generally requested by students as part of the appeal process if their petition is denied.

One or more recommendations may be required for Pitzer students applying to study abroad. 的 recommender does not need to be from Pitzer College.
Program Specific Recommendations 和 Letters of Reference
After Pitzer students submit their Pitzer College 出国留学 Applications 和 are accepted by the Office of 出国留学 和 国际项目, some study abroad programs 和 exchanges require them to submit program-specific applications. Applications required by the host institutions may include requests for recommendations 和/or letters of reference. Your student should provide the program specific links, forms, instructions 和 due dates. Host institutions may not be flexible with their due dates. Some students will need both an ISEP学术参考 和 a program specific recommendation or letter of reference.
ISEP学术参考
申请n ISEP exchange program must include an ISEP学术参考. Your student will enter their confidentiality preference, your name 和 your email into the on-line ISEP application to send you a link to the ISEP reference for you to complete. ISEP requires the references be entered on-line.

的 主要声明表格 must be completed 和 submitted to the Registrar’s Office by mid-term of the first semester of a student’s junior year. Students who will be juniors while studying abroad must declare their major before participation or they will not be allowed to register for the following semester’s courses from abroad. Students studying abroad on a fall or full year program are require to declare by March 1 of the prior semester. Students studying abroad in the spring are require to declare by October 1 of the prior semester.
